Thanksgiving Tree

I just saw this great idea on the Today show.  They had made a Thanksgiving Tree.  I thought why not use that in the classroom.  I really think it is important to teach children to take a moment to think about all the things that they are thankful for.  Every child has something that they can be thankful for, even if it doesn't seem like it is very much.

It is really easy to do:

1.  Find some twigs (you could buy them, or just get them out of your yard)
2.  Paint if desired, or just leave them for the natural look.
3.  Make tags out of construction paper (you can cut out leaf shapes, or just rectangles).
4.  Punch a hole in each tag and put ribbon or yarn through the hole and tie a loop.
5.  Students can write what they are thankful for on the tags and hang them on the tree.

I can't wait to try this on Monday when I get to school!  Next year I will be putting one up early so I can let the students add tags to the tree periodically throughout November.

You could even do this with staff in the teacher's lounge!!!

Always be thankful!!!!
