>Today's topic is all about formative assessments for math. These are quick checks to see if your students are understanding the material that you are presenting. Checks for understanding can be done in a variety of ways. You can use digital methods. Here are some great digital formative assessment ideas.
If you are looking for more paper/pencil type assessments I like to use my quick checks. I can grade these or I can just use them for my own knowlege to see if my students are getting the concept that I am teaching. These quick checks come in 4 different levels of difficulty for each standard.
Level A: Basic problems.
Level B: Slightly more difficult.
Level C: Slightly more difficult with word problems.
Level D: More difficult.
These formative assessments for math give you a variety of options to use to assess your students' understanding. I have a set for each of the domains in 4th grade, or you can save money and get the whole set of standards for 4th grade. Here are the separate domains:
